An exciting leadership opportunity in a growing organisation to develop the member engagement programme across London and the South East of England.
You will facilitate engagement with stakeholders to oversee a thriving programme of circa 100 events per year in the region, as well as contributing to national programmes.
The Royal College of General Practitioners is the largest membership organisation solely for GPs in the United Kingdom. Focused on maintaining the highest standards in patient care, and with a strong heritage dating back to 1952, we have aspirations to grow our membership above its current 54,000 to ensure that all practitioners have access to essential resources and support.
As a member led organisation, the RCGP Faculties (local volunteer member groups) play a vital role in driving engagement. The Regional Engagement Manager (REM) role is key to harnessing members’ knowledge across the spectrum of career grades and experiences and developing a programme of local support initiatives and events.
You will have excellent people and project management skills working to deliver innovative programmes and build local communities. Working with the Faculties, you will have experience in volunteer management and a good understanding of local healthcare networks and governance structures. Experience working within a membership body is desirable.
You will use your business acuity and finance management skills to help the Faculties develop and strengthen local and regional plans into activities that will support the local member and other stakeholder communities. You will have a track record of developing and delivering engagement programmes and in providing impact reports to quantify local output.
Responsible for line managing four members of staff in the region you will have a good track record of HR processes, experience in remote management and digital communication platforms and the ability to motivate and inspire. You will also share our aspirations around equality, diversity and inclusion and seek to create a welcoming work place and inclusive environment for all our staff and members.
As a member of the national Faculty Management team, you will also have the drive to deliver both the day-to-day work of the Faculties and contribute proactively, strategically and collaboratively to developing the future direction of Faculties in England, in response to organisational plans and priorities.
A flexible approach to working hours is necessary as there are evening meetings (predominately online, though occasionally face to face in various locations around London and South East England), as well as an occasional need to attend meetings across England, including organising quarterly face-to-face team meetings within your region. A full driving license and access to a car is desirable.
