Job Description
My Client is recruiting for a Regional Discipline Lead - Mechanical in the Water Sector. Our Client aims to strengthen their Engineering Leadership team with this position. As an integral member of the Engineering Leadership Team, you will report directly to the Engineering Director and serve as the lead technical authority for mechanical engineering aspects of projects.
As Mechanical Regional Discipline Lead, you will provide engineering technical direction to mechanical discipline engineers and ensure an effective team is maintained to integrate all mechanical design elements across all zones and phases of the scheme. You will ensure right-first-time functionality through design, construction, commissioning, and takeover. Your responsibilities include reviewing mechanical deliverables produced by other engineers and the supply chain to ensure adherence to processes and procedures. You will also coach and mentor junior team members and collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure project solutions deliver value, are fit for purpose, and are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
You will work with other stakeholders to drive continuous development in engineering, design, and innovation. Key responsibilities include leading and developing the mechanical design team, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, developing sustainable solutions, managing contractor appointments, overseeing design programs, ensuring compliance with legislation and standards, and monitoring project progress.
The ideal candidate will have an engineering degree or equivalent experience, preferably be chartered or working towards it, and possess practical experience in mechanical engineering within the water/wastewater industry. Experience in mentoring, designing multidisciplinary projects, managing design responsibilities under CDM, and stakeholder management is essential. Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills are required to succeed in this role.
