Overview
The Labour Party is looking to recruit a Regional Communications Officer. The post-holder will be responsible for developing and implementing a pro-active regional media strategy and taking responsibility for the day to day presentation of the Labour Government's policies and activities in the regional media.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a regional media strategy.
- Present and communicate Labour policies and activities in the regional media on a day-to-day basis.
- Maintain a good knowledge of the regional media landscape and issues affecting the region.
- Build and maintain relationships with regional and local media.
- Lead or coordinate a team of volunteers where required.
- Regular Driver Role: the post requires the ability to drive and to own a compliant car. A full UK driving licence and a compliant car are required within 12 months of start date; failure to secure these will result in a fixed-term contract ending after 12 months.
- Candidates who cannot drive due to disability will be considered for reasonable adjustments under the Equality Act 2010.
Qualifications
- A good knowledge of the regional media and issues affecting that region.
- Experience of developing and implementing a media strategy.
- Ability to build relations with regional and local media.
Salary and Benefits
- Salary: £44,996.52 (gross) per annum, with a fixed sum allowance of £2,668. There is the ability to progress to £49,430.55 over the next 2 years.
- 25 days of annual leave (increases to 30 days after 10 years' service), pro-rated for part time staff.
- Additional 5 days of leave for the office closure period over Christmas and New Year.
