Job summary

Avery Healthcare Group is seeking a Regional Chef Manager to cover our North homes. You will oversee kitchen teams, deliver high-quality dining experiences, and manage rotas, food safety, and supplier deliveries to meet budgets.

We expect hands-on cooking leadership in a care home, NVQs in Cooking and Food Hygiene, IDDSI training, and a full UK driving licence. DBS check required; mileage and training support provided.

Qualifications

  • Experience as a Chef in a Care Home environment.
  • NVQ’s in Cooking, Food Hygiene and Health and Safety.
  • IDDSI Training and knowledge of textured modified diets.
  • A full UK driving license and access to your own vehicle.

Responsibilities

  • To cover Chef Manager positions at home level where vacancies, annual leave or extended absences occur.
  • Oversee and be responsible for all kitchen team members in preparation, cooking and delivering the full dining experience.
  • Ensure high quality home cooked nutritional meals and snacks for residents and visitors within budgets.
  • Provide supervision, mentoring and coaching for kitchen staff to maximise their skills.
  • Ensure food safety & health & safety documentation is up to date and compliant with guidelines.
  • Manage kitchen rota for catering team members.
  • Oversee food purchasing and deliveries using nominated suppliers.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The role will assist in the covering of Chef Manager positions at home level where we have vacancies, annual leave or extended periods of absence. The role will oversee and be responsible for all kitchen team members in the preparation, cooking and delivering the full dining experience. This includes high quality home cooked nutritional meals and snacks for residents and visitors which contribute to the overall wellbeing of the residents within the budgets agreed.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

To work in conjunction with other departments within the home to ensure the overall culinary experience is consistently delivered to a high standard to all residents, visitors and team members.

To provide supervision, mentoring and coaching for all kitchen team members using instruction and demonstration to maximise and develop all kitchen team members’ skills to their full potential.

To ensure all food safety & health & safety documentation is up to date and completed to ensure safe practices and meeting EHO guidelines.

To manage, co-ordinate and oversee the kitchen Rota for all catering team members.

To oversee food purchasing and deliveries using nominated suppliers for the homes you are covering. Receipting of goods using company processes, procedures and online systems.

Prepare and cook all daily meals for residents, and provide catering for special occasions and events, such as individual birthday cakes.

To cater for all resident nutritional needs such as special diets and allergies meeting where appropriate IDDSI guidelines.

Flexibility and creativity to develop specials menus meeting resident requirements.

ABOUT YOU

Experience as a Chef in a Care Home environment.

A full UK driving license and access to your own vehicle.
