Job summary

Avery Healthcare is seeking a Regional Bank Chef to support our homes across the South West and Midlands. The role focuses on directing a culinary team, delivering nutritious and cost-effective meals while ensuring high hygiene standards and regulatory compliance.

You will travel between homes, manage menus, order supplies, and supervise kitchen staff within budget. A strong leadership track record and experience in care-home food service are essential.

Qualifications

  • Experience in managing a busy kitchen and a minimum of 5 years' culinary experience.
  • Knowledge of health and safety, as well as current food safety legislation.
  • Knowledge of COSHH and managing the cleaning of the culinary department to 5-star rating standards
  • NVQ 3 in Food Production or equivalent/City and Guilds 706-1 706-2 Catering qualifications /Trained in IDDSI /textured modified diets
  • Ability to work as part of a team and demonstrate leadership qualities

Responsibilities

  • Prepare nutritionally balanced menu plans for approval by the Home Manager, which provide varied, nutritious, and appetising meals for residents.
  • Take account of any special dietary needs and retain records for inspection purposes.
  • Place food orders, subject to appropriate levels of authority, with approved suppliers, complying with procedures to maintain proper stock levels and control, ensuring good quality provisions are purchased within agreed budget limits.
  • Supervise and direct the work of other kitchen staff and the Host team, and instruct and demonstrate simple food preparation activities to unqualified staff.
  • Understand the Avery Food Safety Management system and demonstrate the principles of safe food handling to ensure all food preparation undertaken in the kitchen is to the highest standards of hygiene

We are currently seeking a warm, enthusiastic, and dedicated individual to join our award-winning team as a Regional Bank Chef supporting our homes across the South West & Midlands regions.

About the role

As the Regional Bank Chef, your primary responsibility will be supporting the daily operations of the culinary department.
