Job description

Help us make a difference as a Regional Asset Engineer. This is a regional position covering our operational workshops around our Greater Manchester Depots and Northern Region.

Quick overview of the role

To support the Regional Fleet Manager by providing day-to-day direction for regional fleet workshops, ensuring high client satisfaction, stakeholder engagement, and successful delivery of all commercial, health and safety, and operational results.

Responsibilities include managing customer requirements (notably vehicle & Mobile Plant uptime & availability), monitoring and improving fleet performance using the fleet management system, ensuring compliance, data integrity, and maximizing fleet asset availability.

  • Supporting and driving vehicle availability across the region through monitoring and feedback.
  • Ensuring all asset compliance with current legislation and H&S standards, maintaining workshop performance, MOT pass rates, and adherence to company procedures.
  • Managing third-party service providers via SLA creation, negotiation, and invoice validation.
  • Reviewing financial and operational performance, managing assets and staff to deliver profitable business and excellent customer service.
  • Monitoring fleet management system accuracy, including job cards, purchase orders, and compliance data.
  • Managing business performance measures to ensure optimal return on assets.
  • Auditing health and safety standards within the region, ensuring completion of compliance tasks and documentation.
  • Developing and inspiring teams to achieve objectives, managing performance for excellent results.
Requirements

Here’s what we require:

  • Relevant Technical Qualification is essential.
  • Valid driving licence.
  • Management experience in a B2B service delivery region/area.
  • Experience in a similar fleet role.
  • Knowledge of vehicle maintenance in line with DVSA guidelines.
  • Operational knowledge of workshop practices and H&S legislation.
  • Understanding of Operators Licence requirements.
  • Knowledge of workshop procedures and DVSA testing processes.
  • Awareness of technical and legislative updates.
  • Good understanding of MOT standards.
  • Experience managing in a labour-intensive, multi-shift environment.
