Job summary

Biffa Specialist Services Industrial is seeking a Regional Driver Development Coach to develop and support our driver workforce across the UK. You will lead training, ensure safety compliance, and coordinate onboarding for new drivers within our hazardous and liquid waste operations.

The role requires a minimum of 3 years of HGV driving, Class 1 licence, ADR and DCPC credentials, plus a proven ability to train and mentor drivers while upholding health and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of HGV driving experience across multiple modes.
• Valid Class 1 HGV licence, DCPC and Digital Tachograph card.
• Valid ADR qualification with waste vacuum tanker experience.

Responsibilities

• Recruitment and onboarding support with pre-employment assessments and a 3-day Driver Induction.
• Ongoing driver training with refresher and mode-specific programmes.
• Maintain driver competence and training records in Express Class.
• Provide reassessment and retraining after incidents.
• Analyse driving data with management to identify support needs.
• Conduct behavioural interventions to improve driver actions.
• Drive continuous improvement in training delivery and driver development.

Role Purpose

Biffa Specialist Services Industrial delivers tailored waste solutions for businesses with complex requirements. We provide hazardous waste management, industrial cleaning, and specialist logistics services to customers across the UK, supporting a wide range of industries.

We are looking for an experienced Regional Driver Development Coach to play a critical role in ensuring our drivers operate safely, compliantly, and efficiently across our diverse divisional fleet.

This is a hands-on, people-focused role, ideal for someone passionate about developing drivers, improving standards, and making a measurable impact on safety and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Recruitment and Onboarding: Support the hiring process with pre-employment assessments and deliver a comprehensive 3-day Driver Induction aligned with standards and legislation.
• Ongoing Driver Training: Provide regular refresher and additional mode training to enhance driver skills and customer experience.
• Record Management: Maintain accurate driver competence and training records using Express Class.
• Post-Incident Support: Offer reassessment and retraining for drivers following incidents.
• Driving Performance Reviews: Regularly analyse driving data with management to identify and address support needs.
• Behavioural Interventions: Conduct targeted support for drivers requiring improvements in actions or behaviours.
• Continuous Improvement and Development: Enhance training delivery, optimise driver learning, and pursue personal professional development.

What We’re Looking For

Minimum 3 years of HGV driving experience, including multiple HGV modes.

Valid Class 1 HGV licence, DCPC and Digital Tachograph card

Valid ADR qualification with & Waste vacumn tanker experience?

Proven experience in driver training, and or transport roles

Organised, proactive, and committed to continuous improvement

Strong working knowledge of driver legislation and health & safety requirements
