Job summary

Biffa is seeking a Regional Driver Development Coach to elevate driver standards across our hazardous waste tankers operations. Lead onboarding, develop training plans, and ensure compliance with industry regulations while fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement.

You will work hands-on with the driver fleet, delivering coaching sessions, tracking progress, and collaborating with operations to optimise performance and safety outcomes.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of HGV driving experience.
• Valid Class 1 HGV licence, DCPC and Digital Tachograph card.
• ADR qualification with Waste vacuum tanker experience.
• Proven experience in driver training or transport roles.
• Organised, proactive, and committed to continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Recruitment and onboarding: support hiring with pre-employment assessments and a 3-day Driver Induction.
• Ongoing driver training: deliver refresher and mode-specific training.
• Record management: maintain driver competence and training records using Express Class.
• Post-incident support: reassessment and retraining after incidents.
• Driving performance reviews: analyse data with management to address development needs.
• Behavioural interventions: provide targeted support for improvement.
• Continuous improvement: enhance training delivery and driver development.

- HAZ & LIQUID WASTE TANKERS

Role Purpose

Biffa Specialist Services Industrial delivers tailored waste solutions for businesses with complex requirements. We provide hazardous waste management, industrial cleaning, and specialist logistics services to customers across the UK, supporting a wide range of industries.

We are looking for an experienced Regional Driver Development Coach to play a critical role in ensuring our drivers operate safely, compliantly, and efficiently across our diverse divisional fleet.

This is a hands‑on, people‑focused role, ideal for someone passionate about developing drivers, improving standards, and making a measurable impact on safety and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Recruitment and Onboarding: Support the hiring process with pre-employment assessments and deliver a comprehensive 3-day Driver Induction aligned with standards and legislation.
• Ongoing Driver Training: Provide regular refresher and additional mode training to enhance driver skills and customer experience.
• Record Management: Maintain accurate driver competence and training records using Express Class.
• Post-Incident Support: Offer reassessment and retraining for drivers following incidents.
• Driving Performance Reviews: Regularly analyse driving data with management to identify and address support needs.
• Behavioural Interventions: Conduct targeted support for drivers requiring improvements in actions or behaviours.
• Continuous Improvement and Development: Enhance training delivery, optimise driver learning, and pursue personal professional development.

What We’re Looking For

Minimum 3 years of HGV driving experience, including multiple HGV modes.

Valid Class 1 HGV licence, DCPC and Digital Tachograph card

Valid ADR qualification with & Waste vacumn tanker experience?

Proven experience in driver training, and or transport roles

Organised, proactive, and committed to continuous improvement

Strong working knowledge of driver legislation and health & safety requirements
