Position Overview

Reporting to the Vice President of Safety Operations, the Region Director of Safety provides strategic leadership and direction to a Senior Vice President of Operations in implementing and improving the Safety Program across multiple locations. This role involves utilizing KPIs and predictive analytics from vehicle telematics and driver monitoring tools to ensure compliance and safety standards are met.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the implementation of the Safety Program, crash and injury reduction plans, and compliance programs including FMCSA, FTA, OSHA, and state requirements.
  • Analyze trends affecting driver safety and workplace injuries, deploying solutions across the organization.
  • Provide leadership during crash, injury, and crisis investigations.
  • Build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support continuous safety improvements.
  • Conduct inspections, audits, and reporting with high accuracy and timeliness.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in critical thinking skill development.
  • Significant experience in commercial passenger transportation safety, education, and training.
  • Proven leadership in managing safety across multiple locations.
  • Experience coaching drivers and operational staff.
  • Knowledge of safety policies and transportation best practices.
  • Ability to complete OSHA 30-hour General Industry and Transportation tracks within 6 months.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel up to 75% within the region.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Research methodologies, project management, and contract administration skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and transportation software like Lytx and telematics.
  • Experience supporting regulatory audits and investigations.
