In this pivotal role, you’ll be at the heart of our Regulation Compliance Team, working closely with operational colleagues to validate, assess, and strengthen compliance across drinking water quality and environmental performance. Your expertise will help ensure our reporting is accurate, robust, and trusted by regulators and stakeholders alike.

This is more than a compliance role—it’s an opportunity to liaise with our Regulators and influence the direction of the water industry. You’ll represent Anglian Water in national forums and policy discussions, helping shape future regulatory guidance and championing best practice across the sector. Internally, you’ll support teams with continuous improvement, embedding learning from scientific investigations and driving higher standards across the business.

Key responsibilities
  • Provide independent assurance over compliance documentation and data produced by first‑line teams, ensuring alignment with regulatory expectations.
  • Identify inconsistencies and advise on remedial actions to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Represent Anglian Water in national forums and policy development discussions.
  • Prepare detailed reports and contribute to regulatory submissions and internal decision‑making.
  • Implement compliance monitoring procedures and support targeted investigations.
  • Promote continuous improvement, including embedding learning from investigations and assurance activities into business‑as‑usual practices.
As a valued employee you’ll be entitled to:
  • A competitive pension scheme where we double‑match your contributions up to 7%
  • Private healthcare for your peace of mind
  • An annual bonus scheme
  • The opportunity to volunteer in your local community
  • 26 days holiday (plus Bank Holidays), increasing with service, with the option to swap Christmas and Easter for religious holidays
  • Life cover (8x your salary) and personal accident cover (up to 5x your salary)
  • Flexible benefits to support your well‑being and lifestyle
  • Paid time off for illness, both physical and mental
  • Free parking at all office locations, sites, and leisure parks
  • Excellent family‑friendly policies, including 26 weeks of full pay for maternity/adoption leave and 4 weeks of paternity/partner pay, with the opportunity for shared parental leave
What does it take to be successful?
  • Degree or equivalent qualification in environmental science, water regulation, policy, or related discipline.
  • Experience in reviewing compliance reports and familiarity with environmental permits and regulations and water quality regulations.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with excellent attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills with ability to build trust.
  • Proficiency with reporting tools and data management.
  • Curious, proactive, and committed to continuous learning and improvement.
