Job summary

Rugby Borough Council is offering a Refuse Recycling Driver – LGV role. This full-time position is 42 hours/week (including 5 hours contractual overtime) with a salary of £34,110–£36,862 and a market supplement.

The role involves front-line collections of waste, including Trade Waste, and some street sweeping. You’ll need an LGV Cat C licence, Driver CPC, tachograph and DCPC cards, and be able to pass a medical exam.

Qualifications

• Valid Category-C LGV licence for waste vehicles.
• Driver CPC qualification.
• DCPC card and tachograph card are required.
• Able to pass a driver’s medical examination.

Responsibilities

• Represent the Council in front-line waste and recycling collections.

About The Role

This is an important and highly visible front-line role representing the Council on a daily basis to all Borough users and residents whilst ensuring that the highest standards of waste and recycling collections are met at all times.

Duties include ensuring all waste streams, including Trade Waste, are collected and disposed of in line with service objectives.

You will also be doing street sweeping operations as needed.

About You

You’ll need a Valid Category-C large goods vehicle licence (suitable to drive waste collection vehicles up to 32 tonnes) and hold a Driver CPC qualification, valid DCQ card and tachograph card and be able to pass a driver’s medical examination.

You’ll need an understanding of health and safety legislation (Including manual handling) and Road Traffic Regulations, alongside the ability to read electronic (in-cab system) and paper-based maps and follow existing planned routes.

The ability to be able to push wheeled bins and lift container / bulky waste items of household waste and be able to work alone with minimal supervision and as part of a team is also required.

You’ll also need to be flexible with working additional hours as required and the ability to work Bank Holidays and additional statutory days.
