Grade D: £25,992 to £28,624 per year (£13.47 to £14.84 per hour)
Type: Permanent
Hours: 37 hours per week (working Monday to Friday inclusive)

An opportunity has arisen for Refuse Driver/Loaders to join Erewash Borough Council’s Waste and Recycling Services team within the Environmental and Community Services Directorate. The team is responsible for providing a high-quality refuse/recycling service to customers and ensuring controlled waste is collected in line with the Council’s duty under the Environmental Protection Act 1990.
You will be working closely and collaboratively with your colleagues to deliver results that have a positive impact on residents living in the Borough. The main duties involve:
You will hold a full HGV Class 2 driving licence and have experience of working in a customer-orientated environment. Ideally, you will have experience of refuse and recycling collection systems, but this is not essential. The ability to work well as part of a team, and experience of using your own initiative are also essential requirements of the role as you may be required to work alone at times. You will be required to work competently to provide a high-quality service and always display a caring attitude towards members of the public.
This is a physically demanding role in which you may be required to walk long distances in all weather conditions. You should therefore possess a reasonable level of fitness and have physical health conducive to driving an HGV and moving full wheeled bins.
