Job summary

Rushcliffe Borough Council in Nottingham is seeking a Class 2 driver to join our award-winning recycling2go team. You will lead the crew and ensure safe, high-quality waste collection across domestic routes, with responsibility for the vehicle and crew performance.

The role demands a full LGV Category 2 licence and DCPC qualification, strong customer service, and the ability to work well in a small team or on your own. Flexible hours and opportunities for training are provided.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Lead the waste collection crew to ensure safe, efficient, high-quality service
• Assist in domestic waste and recyclables collection as part of the crew
• Carry out glass collections, bulky items, and septic tank/cesspool duties when required
• Ensure vehicle security and performance of the crew during shifts

Job description

Salary: £32,748 per annum

We are looking for an experienced Class 2 driver to join the Council’s award winning recycling2go team. As a leader in the waste management sector our reliance on high quality staff is essential. As well as having responsibility for the vehicle during the course of the work you will also be the Crew Leader too ensuring performance is of the highest standard and ensuring the work is carried out in a safe manner. You will be assisting in the collection of domestic waste and liaising closely with other members of the crew to ensure that the best possible service is given to our residents. A flexible approach to work is essential as in addition to collecting domestic waste and recyclables you will be required to assist with other waste collection duties too including glass collections, the collection of large bulky items of furniture and the emptying of septic tanks and cesspools.

Our working hours are Monday to Friday 7.00am to 3pm and the previous Saturday before a Bank Holiday Monday.

Applicants must have a full driving licence (LGV CATEGORY 2 PLUS DCPC QUALIFICATION), be able to provide good customer service and able to work effectively as part of a small team or on their own. It is an advantage if applicants have experience of refuse collection, tipping and refuse vehicles as well as being confident and assured in leading the collection team.
