Job Summary:
Derby City Council is seeking dependable and hardworking individuals to join our Waste Management team as Refuse Collectors. You will play a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness of our city by collecting household and commercial waste, ensuring it is safely and efficiently disposed of or recycled.
Key Responsibilities:
• Collect household, recycling, and commercial waste from designated areas across Derby
• Work as part of a crew, following safe lifting techniques and operational procedures
• Assist with loading bins and bags onto collection vehicles
• Operate in a safe and respectful manner around members of the public
• Report any issues, such as damaged bins or obstructions, to supervisors
• Ensure timely and accurate completion of daily routes
• Adhere to health and safety guidelines at all times
Person Specification:
• Good level of physical fitness and the ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
• Reliable with a strong work ethic and team spirit
• Ability to follow instructions and adhere to safety protocols
• Previous experience in waste collection or a similar manual role is advantageous but not essential
