£26,766 - £29,131
Pitlochry Depot

Do you have a Cat C driving licence and a valid CPC and Digi Card? If the answer is yes, this could be the job for you.

Perth & Kinross Council aims to work with the residents of the Perth & Kinross area to reduce the volume of waste going to landfill and offer recycling opportunities wherever possible.

As a LGV Driver, you will provide an invaluable service to the residents of the area, ensuring that household waste is collected on a regular basis and taken to the appropriate locations.

Your role will include driving/operating waste ejections/containment vehicles, e.g., refuse collection vehicles. You will collect various types of waste and recycling materials associated with the kerbside collection schemes, recycling centres, and recycling points. Compliance with Housing & Environment's safe system of work for Waste Disposal and Refuse Collection is essential (copies available on request).

To comply with Road Transport Regulations and provide a continuous service over 7 days, shift patterns are in place. The shift pattern available is Monday to Thursday, 36 hours.

You will also be included in the standby rota and be available to work additional hours outside normal working hours. Some works are planned in advance, but some may be unforeseen, in which case short-term availability may be required at short notice.

This is an opportunity for you to provide a vital service to the community by ensuring that all waste is uplifted, making the Perth & Kinross area an attractive place to live and visit.

You will have the opportunity to participate in on-the-job training, and your continuous development will be encouraged and supported throughout your career with Perth & Kinross Council.

As an employee of Perth & Kinross Council, you will have access to a wide range of rewards and benefits such as a generous annual leave entitlement, automatic membership of our pension scheme (unless you choose to opt out), and many more.

The Individual
To be successful, you must have a valid Cat C driving licence, as this post requires you to travel to various locations across Perth and Kinross.

You will be aware of Road Transport Regulations, be able to carry out the physical demands of the job, and, as a representative of the Council, communicate effectively with members of the public as well as colleagues.

You will bring positive energy and have the ability to work well as part of a team.

You will have a full driving licence, enabling you to drive other vehicles as necessary.

You will be aware of Health & Safety legislation, have effective visual skills to ensure the safety of other road users and pedestrians, and be able to carry out vehicle inspections, ensuring that your vehicle is safe to drive and meets all legal requirements.

You will have the ability to operate a tachograph and navigate in and around the Perth & Kinross area.

If you would like any more information regarding this vacancy, please contact Gair McRostie, Supervisor, at 01738 477151.
