Refurbishment Operative - Field Based

Compensation: £33,000 / year


Description
Are you a competent and multiskilled Refurbishment and Maintenance professional or builder looking for a new challenge?
We are looking for an experienced Refurbishment Operatives to join our newly created Refurbishment team, refurbishing our new children’s homes and schools as part of our expansion plans. You will work as a part of an integral team, carrying out planned and time lined refurbishment maintenance and repair procedures such as carpentry, plumbing, plastering, painting, basic electrics and gardening skills.

We are looking for someone who is happy and confident to carry out a range of works, refurbishment, maintenance and property upkeep with travel across the UK to support our growth plans. Working away from home will be a requirement for the role on occasions.

You will be reporting to our Maintenance Manager, Graham and will be part of a Refurbishment team of 3.

Key Responsibilities
  • You will be part of a team and tasked to refurbish a home/school ready for opening. Completion of any other maintenance tasks as and when required
  • You might require to working with the wider maintenance team across our homes/schools
  • Adhering to all health and safety regulations and reporting any issues to management
  • As a key holder, locking up and opening the school on a daily basis
  • The nature of this role will require annual leave to be taken outside the normal school holiday period July to September

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • You will have experience in all aspects of general maintenance and the ability to carry out this work to a high standard
  • You will have experience in all aspects of plastering, building and decorating, in order to provide an efficient and comprehensive maintenance service to our homes
  • Working knowledge of basic plumbing
  • Excellent communication skills, to liaise effectively with all levels of the organisation
  • You will be experienced in the safe use of powered hand and bench tools
  • You can work both independently and as part of the wider team
  • Confident in using IT systems - Currently we use Jira to manage and update jobs
  • A full driving license is essential, along with flexibility to travel across our homes and schools including overnight stays
