Serco Limited is seeking a Refuel Driver at RNAS Yeovilton to safely deliver and manage aviation fuel for military and civilian aircraft. This on-site role involves operating HGV Class 2 vehicles, performing quality checks, and supporting airfield operations with a strong emphasis on safety and regulatory compliance.

The successful candidate will hold a Category C (HGV Class 2) licence, may have ADR/BPSS qualifications, and must be able to work flexible shifts, including nights and on-call

• ADR certificate for Class 3 flammable liquids in tanks, desirable.
• Driver CPC qualification, desirable.
• Colour Perception (CP) standard - normal.
• Demonstrate a strong safety mindset and attention to detail.
• Can work across shifts, including nights and on-call duties.

Responsibilities

• Drive and operate HGV Class 2 vehicles for the refuelling and defueling of aircraft
• Conduct aviation fuel quality assurance testing across bulk and mobile storage
• Support airfield operations, including driving on airfields and public highways
• Operate bulk fuel installations and maintain refuelling equipment
• Participate in shift patterns and on-call rotas to meet operational requirements
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental and regulatory standards at all times

Location: RNAS Yeovilton, BA22 8HT

Salary: Competitive plus excellent benefits

Schedule: Full-time, 38 hours per week. Monday to Friday with shift patterns, including days, nights and participation in an on-call rota.

As a Refuel Driver in our Aircraft Engineering Support and Airfield Services team, you'll play a vital role in keeping aviation operations moving by safely delivering and managing fuel for military and civilian aircraft in a highly regulated environment.

From day-to-day refuelling to supporting critical flying operations, your work will directly contribute to operational readiness and safety. This is a hands‑on role where precision, responsibility and teamwork come together to create a positive impact on essential services and the communities they support.

What you’ll do as a Refuel Driver

Does this sound like you?

• Hold a Category C (HGV Class 2) driving licence
• Hold a valid ADR certificate for Class 3 flammable liquids in tanks, desirable but not essential
• Have a Driver CPC qualification and up-to-date training, desirable but not essential
• Be Colour Perception (CP) standard - normal / Ishihara pass

Vetting and checks

This role requires Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance, which involves verifying your identity, employment history, nationality, and criminal record to meet government security standards. In addition, you will need to obtain formal Security Clearance (such as CTC or SC), which includes more detailed background checks on employment, criminal record, and financial history to ensure suitability for working in secure environments. Please note that UK residency requirements may apply for certain levels of clearance. You will also complete an Occupational Health Questionnaire so we can identify and provide any support you may need to undertake the role effectively.
