Job summary

Tesco is seeking a Refrigeration Maintenance Technician to cover South London. You will maintain, repair and improve refrigeration assets across store environments, ensuring safety, compliance and operational uptime for customers and colleagues.

You’ll join a skilled maintenance team handling planned and reactive tasks, diagnosing faults, optimising performance, and delivering first-time fixes in a fast-paced retail setting.

Qualifications

• City & Guilds 2079 F-Gas certification required.
• Current F-Gas Category 1 certification.
• Refrigeration or HVAC qualification required.
• Ability to read drawings and interpret schematics.
• Strong health and safety knowledge and compliance.
• Full UK driving licence is essential.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and repair refrigeration systems to industry standards.
• Conduct routine inspections and propose solutions for potential issues.
• Monitor system performance and optimise efficiency.
• Collaborate on preventative maintenance programs.
• Respond to emergency service calls promptly.
• Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on refrigeration equipment.
• Minimise equipment downtime and support store availability.
• Complete maintenance work orders accurately and in real time.
• Maintain high standards of health, safety and compliance.
• Identify and report asset risks and opportunities for improvement.
• Support delivery of F-Gas compliance and leakage reduction initiatives.
• Develop strong working relationships with store teams and key stakeholders.
• Manage van stock effectively and ensure correct parts are ordered and returned where appropriate.
• Participate in on-call and out-of-hours support arrangements when required.
• Drive first-time fix performance and minimise repeat failures.

You will need

• Relevant certifications essential (e.g., City & Guilds 2079 F‑Gas).
• Co2 experience (service and maintenance).
• Ability to read drawings.
• Knowledge of health and safety legislation.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Strong refrigeration knowledge.
• Suitable Maths & English qualification.
• Good communication skills
• Refrigeration or HVAC qualification.
• Current F‑Gas Category 1 certification.
• Experience maintaining commercial refrigeration systems.
• Strong fault‑finding and problem‑solving skills.
• Good IT skills and ability to use handheld technology for job management.
• Strong commitment to safety and compliance.
• Experience within a retail or supermarket environment.
• Electrical fault‑finding knowledge.
• Experience working with remote monitoring systems.
