Job Description

Job Purpose

This is a key position responsible for planned and reactive maintenance across multiple site locations. You will be the first point of contact for all maintenance activities at your assigned sites. The role involves carrying out technical repairs and Preventative Planned Maintenance (PPM), ensuring all technical and compliance paperwork is completed and up to date. All work must be performed to high standards, efficiently, cost-effectively, and in compliance with the company’s Health and Safety policies.

Key Accountabilities

• Complete the PPM schedule within agreed timescales, ensuring all paperwork is accurately completed according to procedures.
• Respond promptly to service requests from the Helpdesk, assess requirements, and carry out necessary repairs.
• Prioritize maintenance and repair tasks to meet response times.
• Order spares following laid-down procedures.
• Identify non-repairable faults and advise the Line Manager with recommendations for replacements.
• Ensure compliance documentation is always completed and current.
• Conduct surveys and prepare reports as required by management.
• Perform minor alterations and installations within technical competence and current specifications.
• Attend training courses to keep skills up-to-date with technical developments.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Several years’ experience in refrigeration, particularly in supermarket environments.
• Flexibility in working hours is essential, including being on call for 13 weeks per year.
• Fully qualified Refrigeration Engineer with Refrigeration Handling C&G 2079 (Fgas Qualification).
• NVQ / C&G Level 2 in Refrigeration or equivalent qualification.
• Valid UK driving license.
• Ability to read technical drawings.
• Strong diagnostic and repair skills for equipment.
• Ability to work at heights and operate access equipment safely.
