Job description

Location: Newcastle/Teeside

This is a vacancy that will close in 2 months at 23:59 BST.

The Vacancy

Job Purpose:

This is a key position, responsible for planned and reactive maintenance across multiple site locations. You will be the first point of contact for all service and maintenance activities at your assigned sites. Your role involves maintaining and repairing refrigeration equipment in customer locations and providing support for HVAC systems containing refrigeration circuits. The engineering team offers 24-hour service coverage throughout the year, including participation in standby rota procedures.

Key Accountabilities:
  • Prioritize maintenance and repair tasks to meet specified timescales.
  • Identify non-repairable faults promptly and advise the line manager with recommendations for replacements.
  • Ensure PPM schedules are completed on time and all paperwork is accurately filled out.
  • Maintain up-to-date technical and compliance documentation.
  • Participate in out-of-hours standby rota and coordinate cover for holidays or unforeseen circumstances.
  • Adhere to applicable regulations and codes of practice.
  • Order and fit parts as per company procedures.
  • Notify the helpdesk upon task completion and report any issues affecting store operations to GSMs.
  • Respond promptly to service requests, assess requirements, and carry out necessary repairs.
  • Complete surveys and reports as required by supervisors.
  • Perform all tasks to high standards, efficiently and cost-effectively, complying with health and safety policies.
  • Complete tasks within designated timeframes to the satisfaction of the company and clients.
  • Communicate effectively, including report writing and record keeping.
  • Attend training to stay current with technical and business developments and complete mandatory online training modules.
  • Comply with health and safety legislation and company policies at all times.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to maintain quality standards and represent the company professionally.
  • Follow additional instructions from management as required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Time Served Apprenticeship or equivalent qualification.
  • NVQ/C&G Refrigeration Qualification and approved training program.
  • Refrigerant Handling C&G 2079 or equivalent CITB certificate.
  • Skill Card and knowledge of refrigeration, electrical, air conditioning, and mechanical systems.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Ability to work at heights and operate access equipment.
  • Valid full driving license.
  • Availability for out-of-hours work.
  • Educational qualifications: GCSE or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of future legislation such as BS7671 (IEE 16/17th), BSEN 378 (BS4434), and electrical engineering standards.
