Referral to Treatment Senior Pathway Coordinator

The Referral to Treatment (RTT) Senior Pathway Coordinator within the Dental Hospital is responsible for ensuring the accurate, timely, and efficient management of patient pathways in line with national RTT standards and local operational targets.

Working closely with clinical, administrative, and operational teams, the Senior Pathway Coordinator oversees the tracking and validation of RTT pathways, identifying and resolving any breaches, delays, or data issues.

They will support the ongoing improvement of patient flow, contribute to performance reporting, and play a key role in maintaining the integrity of RTT data across systems.

The role also includes the supervision and support of band 3 validators, ensuring best practices are followed and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and accountability in RTT pathway management.

Main duties of the job

The RTT Coordinator will play a key role in ensuring timely and accurate management of patient pathways from referral through to treatment, in line with national Referral to Treatment (RTT) standards. The post holder will be responsible for monitoring and validating RTT data, supporting clinical and administrative teams to ensure compliance, and helping to improve patient access and flow. This role requires excellent attention to detail, strong organisational skills, and the ability to work collaboratively across departments to deliver high-quality patient care.

Person Specification
Qualifications and Training
  • Educated to GCSE, grade C or above (or equivalent) in English Language and Maths
  • Business and Administration Level 4 NVQ or equivalent experience

  • Line Management Experience
  • Previous NHS experience - minimum of 1 year
  • Experience of using a Patient Administration System (preferably Careflow)
  • Experience of providing training courses to colleagues / others both on a 1:1 basis and in classroom
  • Extracting performance reports or RTT related information including experience of outpatient and elective waiting list management
Skills and Abilities
  • Effective and polite manner when dealing with people, both face to face and on the phone
  • Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines whilst maintaining a high standard of accuracy
  • Ability to work effectively in a busy team, prioritise workload for yourself and others ensuring efficient workload completion whilst multi-tasking between different software packages
  • Ability to work independently whilst managing others in a team environment
  • Ability to deal appropriately with sensitive and confidential information
  • Ability to work effectively with staff at all levels within the Trust, ensuring that you are acting appropriately as the "manager" to junior colleagues
  • Good IT skills including Microsoft packages

  • Working knowledge of outpatient policies and procedures (access policy, SOPs and RTT standards)
