38 hours/week
7:30-15:30 Monday to Thursday (30 mins lunch, 12:00-12:30)
7:30-14:30 Friday

Roxel is an Anglo-French company specializing in designing, developing, and manufacturing solid propellant rocket motors for tactical missiles. With operations across the UK and France, and an annual turnover of about £150M, nearly 1000 staff work at our UK site in Summerfield, Kidderminster.

We are experiencing rapid growth, involving new process and equipment design, and maintaining high standards of Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE). We seek a SHE Officer to ensure compliance with legislative and organizational standards, with a focus on environmental standards and all aspects of health and safety.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement SHE policies and procedures aligned with UK legislation and organizational standards.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections to identify hazards and ensure compliance.
  • Provide guidance on risk assessments, hazard identification, and control measures.
  • Investigate SHE incidents and near-misses, preparing reports and corrective recommendations.
  • Monitor and analyze SHE performance metrics, preparing management reports.
  • Coordinate emergency response plans and conduct drills.
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies, ensuring timely submission of reports, especially environmental reports.
  • Promote a safety and environmental awareness culture within Roxel UK.
  • Support SHE improvement projects as needed.
  • Stay updated on SHE regulations, trends, and best practices.
  • Deputize for the H&S and Environmental Manager in their absence, managing occupational safety and environmental policies.
  • Provide ongoing support and guidance to site managers and employees on SHE issues.
Skills and Qualifications

Experience & Background

Qualifications:

  • Higher qualification in science or engineering (HNC/HND).
  • NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety or equivalent.
  • IEMA Certificate in Environmental Management or equivalent.
  • Degree in science or engineering (desirable).
  • Membership or accreditation by a chartered institute (desirable).

Experience:

  • Experience in high hazard industries, preferably explosives manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of Explosive Regulations 2014 (HSE L150).
  • Understanding of UK environmental legislation and permits.
  • Experience with safety engineering in Upper Tier COMAH sites.
  • Strong safety engineering background.
