Hours of Work:

37h/week
8:00-16:30 Monday to Thursday (30mins lunch break, 12:00-12:30)
8:00-13:00 Friday (no lunch break)

Homeworking:

This role is eligible for hybrid homeworking following successful completion of 6 month probation period.

Roxel is an Anglo-French Company that designs, develops and manufactures a range of solid propellant rocket motors for use in tactical missiles. Its operations are spread across several sites in the UK and France and it has an annual turnover of about £100M and nearly 1000 staff, with 250+ in the UK.

The main UK operations are located at Summerfield near Kidderminster and it is here that a vacancy has arisen for a Project Manager to be accountable for the overall direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control and completion of specific projects of work ensuring consistency with company strategy, commitments and business targets.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • The generation, maintenance and delivery of project plans in support of bids for new business.
  • The definition, generation and execution of project plans for contracted work according to business needs. Scope could include development, production or research projects.
  • Improving project value and project margin through the proactive management of project risks.
  • Project reporting both internally to customers.
  • Management, monitoring and motivation of cross-functional team members assigned to the project(s).
  • Working closely with the customer to understand the business requirements for the project, developing effective working relationships and ongoing management processes for the project.
  • Approval and/or authorisation of documents as defined in Approved Signatory or Delegated Authorities List.
Requirements

Candidates should have experience and knowledge of the following:

  • Previous knowledge of planning, managing and delivering production, development or technology projects involving small to medium batch manufacturing of discrete and complex products and sub-components. Experience of developmental activities where project parameters can be subject to change is desirable.
  • A sound commercial and financial understanding is required.
  • Knowledge and experience of Project Management software tools such as Primavera or Microsoft Project is necessary.
  • Good customer skills and an ability to work and communicate with people at all levels in the organisation.
  • Prepared to travel within the UK and overseas as required.
  • Ability to work in/with a multi-disciplined team.
  • Effective risk management (demonstrated experience of effective risk mitigation is more important than knowledge of a particular process).
  • Background in or experience in managing projects within an engineering focussed environment is advantageous
  • Knowledge of MoD and aerospace applications would be an advantage.
  • Experience and up-to-date knowledge of the defence industry is desirable

  • Support and training will be provided for the successful candidate, to fill any gaps in knowledge and experience.
  • This role is eligible for hybrid Working – up to 1 day a week after completion of 6-month probation period.
