Job summary

Lancashire County Council is hiring an HWRC Site Operative at Lancaster HWRC on a permanent, part-time basis (24 hours per week). You will work Sunday to Tuesday, interact with customers, and help manage waste disposal, recycling and site maintenance outdoors.

The role requires basic competence certificates for site operations, the ability to operate plant, and a strong focus on safety and customer service. Training will be provided for plant operation and health and safety standards.

Qualifications

• The post holder will be required to demonstrate the capability to gain relevant certificates of basic competence for the delivery of site operations including, for example, first aid and the use of mechanical plant.
• The ability to follow instructions.
• The ability to communicate accurately and professionally with customers.
• The ability to operate basic mobile or mechanical plant.
• A commitment to provide high levels of customer service.
• A commitment to health and safety.

Responsibilities

• Following routine daily instructions to deliver service standards.
• Meeting and greeting customers and advising on facility use.
• Assisting customers with depositing waste.
• Maximising reuse/recycling by sorting materials.
• Providing information about recycling and what happens to materials.
• Implementing council policies in customer interactions.
• Maintaining tidy, compliant working areas and safety standards.
• Operating mechanical plant and compaction equipment.
• Assisting in re-use shops and activities.
• Supporting the Site Supervisor as required.
