Job description

Are you a confident team builder with experience of growing a resourcing church?Do you have a proven track record of developing individuals for lay and ordained leadership? Do you have the spiritual wisdom, skills and emotional intelligence to take an established church in the civic setting of a market town into a new season of growth? If so, is God calling you to Bingham?

Bingham is a vibrant and growing market town surrounded by countryside less than 10 miles from Nottingham city centre. The town has excellent leisure facilities, attractive parks and amenities alongside excellent local schools. It is well served with excellent rail and bus links.

The next Rector of St Mary and All Saints will be working with the PCC, the diocese and our national Church adviser to oversee and implement the missional plan to grow St Mary and All Saints. To support this season of growth, the Rector will be involved in appointing paid lay roles (operations manager, children and families' worker, worship leader) for at least the next five years funded by the Archbishop’s Council. This is a rare and exciting opportunity to shape a whole-church team for long-term impact.

The mission priorities for the new postholder are:
  • To lead a step-change at St Mary and All Saints in numerical growth, in a younger age profile and in revitalised faith and worship.
  • To set the vision and growth plan for this new chapter, accompanied with intentional prayer.
  • To work with the PCC and diocesan personnel to create the missional design and the role descriptions for the extra paid posts.
  • To build confident, collaborative teams of paid staff and volunteer leaders, enabling people to flourish in their God-given gifts
  • To develop a discipling strategy for reaching, involving and retaining children, young people and young families.
  • To bring imagination, clarity and purpose to different and complementary worship styles that help people to encounter God.
  • To create and implement a financial strategy to reach the church's financial responsibilities including 100% payment of parish share.

We are wholeheartedly committed to the diocesan vision of growing disciples with compassion, confidence and courage here in Bingham, and we are seeking a Rector who will lead us faithfully and creatively into this calling.
