Reports to: Head of People

Location: West London, currently operating an agile working policy with a minimum of two core days in the office (Tuesday and Wednesday)

Employment Type: Permanent

Working Pattern: Full time and part time considered

Closing date: 23rd June at 9am

Interviews: 30th June

Annual Salary: £45,000 to £55,000

About the role:

We are hiring a Recruitment Manager to join Purposeful Ventures at a pivotal stage in our growth. This is a hands-on role at the heart of our hiring efforts—managing day-to-day recruitment activity, actively sourcing candidates, and partnering closely with hiring managers. As we grow, you'll also help build the underlying systems, processes, and foundations that will strengthen our talent function and support long-term, strategic hiring.

This role will lead and support recruitment across the organisation—including our Venture Associate and Venture Partner roles, as well as a variety of supporting and specialist roles. You will be responsible for shaping and delivering recruitment strategies, designing effective and inclusive hiring processes, and ensuring a positive and professional experience for all candidates. You’ll balance strategic thinking with practical delivery—actively headhunting exceptional candidates, partnering with hiring managers on job design, managing end-to-end selection processes, and equipping teams with the tools and coaching they need to hire well.

As the role evolves, you will collaborate closely with colleagues across the organisation—including the Head of People, Head of Communications, and COO—to shape how recruitment supports our wider organisational strategy. This will include growing our employer brand, optimising tools like Team Tailor, and helping to develop internal resources such as our Recruitment Guide—laying the groundwork for a best-in-class, scalable talent function.

Key Requirements:

Essential:

  • Passionate about creating a fairer society where all young people thrive
  • Proven experience in in-house or agency recruitment roles, with the ability to manage a broad range of responsibilities while aligning hands on talent acquisition efforts with long-term business goals and strategy
  • Skilled in designing structured recruitment processes, including interview scorecards, competency frameworks, and training/coaching hiring managers
  • Experienced in leveraging LinkedIn and job boards as part of a broader sourcing strategy, effectively managing candidate pipelines and engagement
  • Experience in proactively headhunting and building candidate pipeline
  • Experience using a data-informed approach to recruitment, leveraging insights from ATS platforms and sourcing tools to optimise hiring outcomes
  • Experience in optimising multi-channel attraction strategies to enhance candidate reach.
  • Experience in creating and implementing inclusive recruitment practices
  • Experienced in scoping roles and crafting clear, compelling job descriptions that effectively attract high-quality, mission-aligned candidates
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to advise and influence hiring managers, lead recruitment briefings, and drive best practices across the organisation
  • Right to work in the UK

Desirable:

  • Experience in developing and delivering employer branding and talent attraction strategies in collaboration with key stakeholders
  • Experience in managing relationships with external agencies or consultancy firms
  • Experience working in a range of contexts, including early-stage organisations
  • Experience working within or alongside education, consultancy recruitment, non-profit, or mission-driven organisations, with an understanding of their values, challenges, and operating environments
