Student Recruitment Assistant (Outreach London and Southeast area) - based remote

Fixed term to 31/12/2027

Responsible for supporting undergraduate student recruitment in London and the Southeast (home-based with frequent travel across the regions and surrounding areas).

Manchester Met is home to one of the UK's largest and most diverse student communities, with over 43,000 students representing over 100 countries.

The Recruitment and Admissions Department provides a seamless service to potential Manchester Met students from first enquiry through to enrolment for all modes and levels of courses. We are responsible for delivering a range of support services to enquirers, applicants, university staff and external stakeholders.

We operate a high-volume quality recruitment and admissions service, annually communicating with over 100,000 university enquirers and applicants through our recruitment campaigns. We manage 40,000 visitors visiting our campuses and deliver over 800 events off campus. We are also responsible for all aspects of offer making and offer communications with around 100,000 applications per year. Quality information, advice and guidance is at the heart of what we deliver, enabling students to make informed choices about going to Higher Education and Manchester Metropolitan University.

The role

We are expanding our post16 outreach activities and we are looking for an assistant to support our student recruitment activities London and the Southeast areas. Reporting to our newly appointed London based Student Recruitment Manager you will be responsible for supporting stand based activities in key locations and feeders, as well as being responsible for a range of administrative tasks to support our recruitment activities in the region.

You will ensure events are booked, organised and recorded to ensure we have an accurate record of events delivered by the team and leads generated. You will also support the team through attending events to engage with potential students.

Although you will be based from home, the role holder will be required to travel throughout London and the Southeast very frequently, so it is expected that you will be based in the area. You will also be expected to travel to our campus in Manchester regularly for team meetings and other events.

Ideal candidate

  • You will have excellent communication skills, the ability to plan, prioritise and organise your own workload.
  • You will have an good knowledge and understanding of the application processes for university courses, UK 14-19 qualifications and student finance.
  • You must have excellent administrative skills, experience of organising events, and good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • You should be enthusiastic, motivated and enjoy engaging with young people.
  • You should have some experience of providing advice or support to school or college pupils, and be passionate about university education.
  • Knowledge of Manchester and Manchester Met is not required but would be an advantage.

Interview expenses will be provided for in-person interviews in Manchester.
