Job description

We are excited to announce we are hiring a Project Engineer due to our continued growth.

Post: Project Engineer
Reports to: Project Manager
Job Purpose: To carry out duties in support of the delivery of ACWA Projects.

MAIN DUTIES:

  1. You will be expected to assist the Project Managers with the day-to-day management and delivery of ACWA projects safely, on time and within budget whilst ensuring we deliver a quality service and ensuring good customer satisfaction.
  2. You will be expected to work in line with the business QA system with a focus on continuous improvement of the company, products and services.
  3. Ensuring that Quality Standards are met by our suppliers and subcontractors in the delivery of ACWA projects.
  4. Ensure that projects are delivered in line with company procedures and policies.
  5. To create and maintain effective communications between all internal resources, clients, suppliers and subcontractors.
  6. Take initiative to identify and deal with problems.
  7. Assist the project manager in resolution of any contractual matters or complications and ensure that the appropriate action is taken which does not compromise or expose ACWA to unnecessary risk.
  8. Assist the project manager and procurement team with the preparation of purchase orders and subcontract documents for equipment, plant and labour for various projects ensuring these are delivered within budget.
  9. Assist the project manager with the coordination of design and procurement activities.
  10. Assist the project manager and engineering team as required with the preparation of equipment specifications.
  11. Ensure that accurate project records and systems are maintained up to date in line with the quality procedures.
  12. Assist with the production of O & M manuals.
  13. Assist with the site teams with the preparation of risk assessments, method statements and safe systems of work.
  14. Management and coordination of sub-contractors.
  15. Assist the project manager and procurement team with the vetting of subcontractors.
  16. Undertake the expediting of supplier orders and subcontract works packages.
  17. Undertake inspection visits to supplier’s premises to monitor progress in line with the project programme along with undertaking quality checks to ensure compliance to ACWA requirements.
  18. Assist the project manager with the preparation of project programmes and reporting.
  19. Supporting the project manager with client progress reviews.
  20. Supporting the project manager at HAZOP meetings.
  21. Site support, remote or at site to ensure safe and efficient site activities.
  22. Assist in site surveys as required.
  23. Support commissioning and site maintenance teams in fault finding.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  1. A formal Engineering or project management qualification preferred but not essential.
  2. Knowledge of British Standards, water industry specification preferred, process industry design.
  3. Usage of Document Management Systems.
  4. A good knowledge of materials, coatings and finishes including stainless and carbon steels, structural steels, elastomers and performance plastics.
  5. Knowledge of manufacturing processes; machining, welding, surface treatments etc.
  6. Be able to communicate effectively regarding matters of a technical nature to customers.
  7. Full UK driving license.
  8. CSCS card desirable but not essential.

  3. Technically astute – Have a genuine interest in and knowledge of water treatment process plant, mechanical equipment, standardisation.
  4. Resourceful – Know when and who to ask/deploy to get the work done in line with the agreed plans.
  5. Organised – Able to work to clear deliverables, report progress, able to give feedback, drive to deliver without need to be driven by others.
  6. Completer/Finisher – Proven track record of closing out project outputs.
  7. Team Player – Willing to contribute to and support the wider project delivery and management team.
