The Recreation Therapist role will serve the town of Hythe, Alberta, specifically in the community of Pearson Place. The Recreation Therapist is responsible for ensuring resident care is a top priority, with a focus on effective time management.

- Coordinates recreational care partner planning and scheduling within budget guidelines, including overtime, time off, and vacation approvals.

- Engages in ongoing monitoring and continuous quality improvement.
- Awareness of accident and injury prevention, adhering to safety protocols, and supporting psychological health and safety of employee care partners.
- Supports residents' lifestyles in their community environment according to individualized Care Plans.
- Delegates, coordinates, and evaluates recreational services based on Resident and Service Plans.
- Oversees planning, implementation, and coordination of recreation programs.
- Enforces Emergency Management, Infection Control, WHMIS, and Health & Safety protocols.
- Performs additional duties as assigned related to the employee care partner role.
Foundational knowledge and experience:
- As of April 2021, a Degree in Recreation Therapy, Leisure Studies, or Recreation Administration is required; prior to this, Therapeutic Recreation diploma graduates recognized by ATRA are eligible.
- Registered with the Alberta Therapeutic Recreation Association (ATRA) is mandatory.
- Experience in recreation programs and providing recreation therapy services is required.
- Leadership, facilitation, resolution, and investigation experience are required.
- Proven clinical practice experience is essential.
- Must obtain a clear criminal record check with vulnerable sector screening prior to employment.
