Job summary

The Town of Groton Parks and Recreation Department is seeking a qualified swimming instructor for part-time Saturday lessons. The role focuses on teaching swimming techniques, stroke development, water safety, and basic rescue skills to children of all ages.

You will maintain discipline and foster positive relationships with participants and staff. Requirements include strong swimming skills, a current WSI certification or equivalent experience, and a preferred driver's license.

Part-Time, Saturdays 11:30 AM to 3:30 PM

Up to 5 hours per week

STARTING RATE: $19.00 / hour

POSITION RANGE: $19.00 - $20.75 / hour

Position Overview

Are you a strong swimmer with a passion for working with children?

We’re looking for a qualified and enthusiastic swimming instructor to lead lessons for children of all ages and skill levels. This role focuses on teaching proper swimming techniques, stroke development, essential water safety skills, and basic rescue skills.

The ideal candidate will be able to accept direction, maintain discipline and respect among program participants, and build positive relationships with both children and program staff.

Required Qualifications

Strong swimming skills are a must! A current Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification or equivalent experience is preferred.

A valid motor vehicle operator’s license is preferred.
