Job description

Recovery Worker - Supported Housing

Location: Middlesbrough

Salary: £23,810 per annum (plus an additional £410 for working the standard on-call and sleep shift rota, with opportunities to increase this)

Job Type: Permanent, 37.5 hours per week

We are looking for caring, flexible, and creative individuals who thrive under pressure and can connect with people at all levels. If you enjoy helping others live independently and want to be part of an organization that values professionalism, insight, and passion, consider joining us at North Ormesby Road as a Recovery Worker.

North Ormesby Road is a mental health supported housing service operating on a recovery model. We offer a range of support services including outreach, peer support, and supported housing for individuals aged 18 and upwards with mental health challenges.

We believe recovery looks different for everyone. With the right support at the right time, recovery is possible for all. As a Recovery Worker, you will help and inspire service users to maintain their tenancy and independence, working with them to develop personal support plans aligned with their goals—whether developing domestic and financial skills or accessing work, leisure, or educational opportunities.

No prior experience is necessary as full training will be provided. Candidates with understanding of mental health issues or lived experience are welcomed. What matters most is your caring and compassionate nature, empathy, enthusiasm, ability to work independently and as part of a team, and willingness to participate in a weekly rota system and on-call duties.

This role offers excellent benefits, training, and development opportunities. The position requires working a minimum of 4 sleep shifts per month at £87.30 each and 5 on-call shifts per month at £12 each.

This is a rolling recruitment process, and candidates will be interviewed as shortlisted. Please upload a CV and supporting statement outlining your skills and experience.

We also offer a wide range of apprenticeships relevant to this role, available to permanent staff who have passed probation.

Waythrough was launched in October 2024 following the merger of Humankind and Richmond Fellowship. We support individuals affected by substance use or gambling and are dedicated to providing high-quality, evidence-based services tailored to individual needs, with the goal of removing barriers to support and enabling people to live valued lives.
