Turning Point’s drug & alcohol services are currently expanding during an exciting time in the sector with new funding and investment. We have a range of roles for people passionate about supporting others to make change.

You will have opportunities to progress your career with a structured learning journey and clearly defined career pathways that will enable you to achieve your long-term goals and work to your strengths.
Whether you aim to progress into management and leadership roles or to become a specialist as an Advanced Substance Use Practitioner, Turning Point will support and encourage you on your career journey.
Recovery workers act as ‘key workers’ for a caseload of service users, supporting them to set goals around treatment and develop plans to achieve these. The role includes maintaining regular contact with clients, offering advice, information, psycho-social interventions, conducting assessments, risk management planning, and working closely with clinical staff regarding prescribing needs and partner agencies. Effective communication with a range of service users and colleagues, task management, and a commitment to Turning Point values are essential. You may have lived experience of substance use, mental health, or homelessness (self or a significant other), experience supporting people in health and social care, or a keen interest in supporting this group; if your values align, we have a role for everyone.
The ideal candidate will understand substance and alcohol use challenges and opportunities for individuals on a recovery journey. Transferable skills from backgrounds such as mental health, housing, or other health and social care fields are also valued. Flexibility, the ability to work dynamically on both one-to-one and group basis, and knowledge of relapse and recovery barriers are vital, but we can help develop these skills. Excellent communication skills and shared organizational values are also important. We value individuals with lived experience and those interested in this line of work; our Trainee Recovery Worker program enables individuals without all relevant experience to gain an entry-level position within the organization before progressing to other roles.
We encourage creativity and initiative, and you will be involved in identifying opportunities to improve service quality and user experience. Extensive training and a supportive learning culture will help you develop your skills and stay updated with the latest developments in your field.
