Job Description:
About the Role

If you have a compassionate nature and a genuine desire to help others, you could be just what we're looking for.

As a Recovery Worker, you will support and advise people experiencing difficulties due to substance misuse. You will manage your own caseload, working within a team and alongside other social care services to identify how best to help. You will develop tailored plans to assist clients in reclaiming their lives. We approach each case professionally and without judgment, focusing solely on support. Responsibilities include conducting assessments, maintaining records, and ensuring quality service delivery.

About the Service

Shropshire Council, in partnership with various agencies including Shropshire Recovery Partnership (We Are With You), MPFT, Connexus, The Shrewsbury Ark, and others, has implemented a multi-disciplinary team to provide holistic support for individuals at risk of or experiencing rough sleeping. The team addresses physical and mental health, substance abuse, family connections, and housing pathways, aiming to reduce drug-related deaths, hospital admissions, and improve treatment success rates.

This role is part of a dedicated treatment team, integrated with partner agencies and extending the existing drug and alcohol services in Shropshire. It offers outreach and base-based interventions, facilitating quicker referrals and comprehensive support, including psychological and physical health care, to reduce harm and improve outcomes.

Our Services

We offer support across Shropshire in Oswestry, Ludlow, and Shrewsbury, primarily in community settings. If you believe you are suitable, apply now to join our dedicated team.

Candidate Profile

You will be compassionate, motivated, and skilled at building relationships. Experience in health, social care, criminal justice, or related fields, especially with substance misuse, is desirable. You should be well-organized, communicate effectively, and work well in a team. A positive, engaging attitude towards clients and stakeholders is essential.

Requirements
  • Attained ONC/NVQ Level 3 or willing to achieve within 12 months
  • Experience in health, social care, or related settings
  • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships
  • Teamwork and resilience under pressure
  • Good communication skills (oral and written)
  • Competence with IT and digital media
  • Organized with effective time management
  • Flexibility with working hours occasionally
  • Willing to support other With You locations as needed

A full job description is available upon request via email. Candidates must meet safeguarding requirements, including a satisfactory enhanced DBS check.

This is a Fixed Term Contract until 31 March 2026, working Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm, with occasional Saturday work on a rotational basis.
