Turning Point is a leading Social Enterprise which supports people with a wide range of complex needs across Learning Disabilities, Mental Health, Substance Misuse and Public Health. We are currently recruiting for a Recovery Worker to work in our Get Connected team, where you’ll have the chance to make a real difference to the lives of the people we support who are experiencing difficulties from drugs and alcohol usage.

The Get Connected Team provides the focus for recovery incorporating aftercare’ Mutual Aid and ETE support, as well as broader community-led range of activities, support and enterprise. We support individuals and to build capacity and facilitate resourcefulness.

As a Get Connected Recovery Worker we offer a starting salary of £25,116 with annual pay progression up to £29, 383 (Dependent on experience you may be offered a starting salary above the initial starting salary).

Role Responsibility

To assist in delivering TP’s Substance Misuse strategy by planning and providing high quality, innovative care which reflects our person-centred values and the high levels of ambition we have for the recovery of the individuals for whom we provide support.

Work flexibly in a variety of settings to create care and support plans that meet the needs of the service and clients in accordance with the recovery agenda, by; -

  • Developing strength-based recovery plans with individuals that are; comprehensive, person-centred and individualised based on a clear assessment of that individual’s needs and circumstances.
  • Involving individuals and their family/advocates in the planning of the individual’s care.
  • Completing accurate, person-centred and individualised risk assessments.
The Ideal Candidate

You’ll have an understanding of substance and alcohol use and the challenges and opportunities for individuals on a recovery journey. However, we also recognise that many people have transferrable skills from other backgrounds such as mental health, housing or other health and social care provision. The roles are varied, so flexibility, an ability to work dynamically on a one to one and group basis, and knowledge of relapse and other barriers to recovery will be vital but we can help to shape these skills where needed. We also look for candidates with excellent communication skills and who share our values as an organisation. We value individuals with lived experience but also those who are just interested in this line of work; our Trainee Recovery Worker program enables individuals without all relevant experience to gain an entry level position within the organisation before moving on to other roles.

We value individual creativity and initiative and, whatever your role, you will be fully involved in identifying opportunities to improve the quality of our services and the service user experience. Your ideas will be listened to and your suggestions implemented wherever possible. You will be supported in your role by extensive training to help develop your skills.
