Job summary

Priory Cragston Court in Blakelaw, Newcastle upon Tyne, is recruiting a Recovery Support Worker to join the Healthcare Assistants and Support Workers team. This is a full-time role, 39.5 hours, four nights a week on an 8 week rolling rota with 8pm–8:15am shifts.

You will support service users with daily activities, assist with assessments and plans, promote independence, and help with social and rehabilitation activities while working under supervision of nurses.

Qualifications

  • Experience in care or support work is desirable, but not essential – training provided.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills required.
  • Commitment to professional standards, policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Provide practical and responsive care to service users while complying with procedures and healthcare legislation.
  • Observe and monitor wellbeing; promptly report and document unusual physical, mental or emotional occurrences.
  • Perform delegated interventions including observation, engagement, escorting to appointments, and de-escalation.
  • Participate in regular team meetings and other required meetings.
  • Perform light housekeeping tasks (dusting, vacuuming, changing bed clothes).
  • Assist and support attendance at medical appointments.
  • Support development of family connections and liaise with specialists.
  • Encourage participation in social and recreational activities promoting growth.

Recovery Support Worker - Nights

Department: Healthcare Assistants and Support Workers

Employment Type: Permanent - Full Time

Location: Cragston Court

Compensation: £13.45 / hour

Description

Priory Cragston Court is looking to recruit a Recovery Support Worker to join the team. This is a full time, 39.5 hour role working 4 nights a week on an 8 week rolling rota with 8pm-8:15am shifts.

Cragston Court in Blakelaw, Newcastle upon Tyne is a unit providing tailored rehabilitation and recovery for up to 20 men and women with complex and enduring mental health needs for adults over the age of 18.

Cragston Court is equipped to deliver mental health, nursing and rehabilitation support for people who are experiencing a wide range of mental health conditions.

What you'll be doing

As a Recovery Support Worker, you will assist nursing colleagues with the assessment and implementation of individual service user support plans, undertaking routine tasks and activities as directed or delegated to facilitate wellbeing, dignity and treatment of service users. You will provide support with day to day activities, whilst encouraging and promoting independent living. As part of our team, you’ll help people reach their potential, through both practical and emotional support, making a positive difference to their lives.

  • To provide practical support and responsive care to service users who require support in their rehabilitation and recovery whilst ensuring that such activities comply with procedures and the relevant healthcare legislation.
  • Observes and monitors the wellbeing of residents ensuring that any unusual physical, mental or emotional occurrences are promptly referred to senior staff/the primary nurse and documented as appropriate.
  • Provide specific interventions with service users as delegated by a Registered Nurse, and following training and competency attainment. Such interventions include Observation and Engagement with service users, escorting on appointments, and being involved in de-escalation and management of violence and aggression.
  • Participate in regular team meetings and attend other meetings as requested
  • Performing light housekeeping tasks, such as dusting, vacuuming, and changing bed clothes
  • Assistance and support to attend medical appointments
  • Supporting the development of important family connections and liaising with specialists
  • Encouraging participation in social and recreational activities that promote involvement and personal growth
