Waythrough is hiring a Recovery Coach for the Northumberland Recovery Partnership, based in Berwick-upon-Tweed. The role involves caseload management, recovery planning and delivering individual and group psychosocial interventions to support sustained recovery.

You will work across sites with lone-working requirements, apply motivational interviewing techniques and collaborate with partner agencies. A Level 3 health and social care qualification (or willingness to pursue) is essential.

About the role

We are looking for a Recovery Coach to join our team, supporting people across all stages of their recovery journey. This is a varied and rewarding role where you will work closely with individuals, colleagues and partner agencies to provide effective recovery planning, case management and interventions. A key part of this role will be developing and delivering structured group work and psychosocial interventions, alongside one-to-one support. You will help individuals engage with treatment, build confidence, reduce substance-related harm and develop the skills and resilience needed to move towards sustained recovery. You will be based in Blyth, with work also taking place in Ashington and potentially other locations within the service, so flexibility is important. The role also involves a significant level of lone working, while maintaining strong working relationships with the wider multidisciplinary team.

What you’ll be doing

• Manage a caseload of service users, developing, implementing and reviewing individual recovery plans.
• Carry out triage, screening and comprehensive assessments.
• Complete risk assessments, risk management plans and safeguarding assessments.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues, families, partner agencies and other professionals to support positive outcomes.
• Deliver effective one-to-one and group-based psychosocial interventions.
• Develop and deliver structured recovery groups that respond to the needs of the people we support.
• Use approaches such as motivational interviewing, CBT, ITEP and MET to promote engagement and progression.
• Support access to treatment, community resources and wider recovery opportunities.
• Provide harm reduction interventions and support around drug and alcohol-related harm.
• Maintain accurate case records and provide reports and information when required.
• Promote visible recovery and encourage positive peer support opportunities.
• Work flexibly across operational sites to support effective service delivery.
• Build relationships within the local community and help promote the activities and opportunities available through the service.

About you

We are looking for someone who is passionate about helping people achieve positive change and who can build effective, professional relationships with the people we support. You will ideally have experience of delivering one-to-one and group therapeutic interventions, alongside an understanding of recovery planning, assessment and risk management. An understanding of motivational interviewing and structured psychosocial interventions is also important. You will need to be confident working independently, as lone working is a significant part of the role, while also being able to work collaboratively with colleagues and external partners. A Level 3 qualification in Health & Social Care or equivalent, or a willingness to work towards this in post, is essential. Relevant experience and transferable skills will also be considered. A driving licence and access to a vehicle would be desirable.
