Are you a dedicated Nurse, looking to make a difference to the lives of Adults with severe mental illness?

We're looking for a compassionate individual to join our recovery team which is part of the Oxford City Adult Mental Health Team.

The recovery team works with adults with severe and enduring mental illness who are currently in supported accommodation on the Littlemore hospital site.

You will need to be able to work autonomously, with a caseload of patients with whom you will engage and offer the recommended treatment and support. You will have experience of care processes and be able to assess and plan treatment with service users. You will also be able to assess and manage risk, including use of Safeguarding processes.

There are opportunities for team working and facilitating groups such as MBT/CBT based interventions. The wider MDT consists of medics, psychological therapists, social workers, OTs, RMNs and support workers, as well as embedded workers from the third sector to support with employment, housing and social needs.

Main duties of the job

This role is open to registered mental health nurses who have extensive experience of working in adult mental health services and understand the challenges that this care group can bring.

  • The responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:
  • Conduct comprehensive, specialist nursing assessments in partnership with service users and carers.
  • Develop, implement, and regularly review personalised, recovery-focused care plans.
  • Deliver evidence-based interventions in line with NICE guidelines to support recovery and prevent relapse.
  • Provide clinical leadership and act as a role model within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Administer medication safely and manage associated side effects in line with NMC and Trust guidelines.

Person specification

Education and Training

  • To evidence a professional qualification (degree or equivalent) and current valid professional registration.
  • To evidence continuing professional development since qualification. (Portfolio may be required to be viewed at interview)
  • To evidence post graduate qualifications specifically relating to an appropriate aspect of care or management.

Occupational Experience

  • To evidence appropriate experience and a high level of knowledge about working within community mental health care with working age adults.
  • To evidence experience of working within a multidisciplinary team and an understanding of AMHTs and interdisciplinary working.
  • To evidence of understanding and experience of risk management both clinically and operationally.
  • To evidence a good understanding of clinical governance and your professional legal responsibilities.
  • To evidence experience of supervising other staff.

Skills required - IT / Admin

  • To evidence IT literacy, to include the Microsoft suite of programmes.
  • To evidence excellent English written and verbal communication skills.
  • To be able to travel between sites as required.
