Admiral Money is looking for a Recoveries Team Leader to support the Collections function during a period of growth to help shape processes, support colleagues, and drive positive performance across the team.

About Admiral Money

Admiral Money is an exciting, new division of Admiral Group. We have the freedom and innovation of a small start-up with the security of a large parent company, Admiral.

The journey started when we launched unsecured personal loans in June. We went on to be the first direct-to-consumer car finance provider in December. Since then, we have gone from strength to strength and have some exciting plans for the future.

We’re looking for people who are keen to learn, excited about getting stuck in, and are ready for a challenge to help us create a special lending business for our customers.

About the Role

This brand-new role involves helping to shape and develop our recoveries function for both Unsecured Personal Loans and Car Finance agreements, taking a lead in the day-to-day running of the team whilst we transition to a new way of working. The successful candidate will be able to quickly adapt to a fast-moving, innovative, and high-profile environment, and will be required to hit the ground running. The successful candidate will be given responsibility, empowerment, and scope to set direction and lead the way, whilst very much retaining a hands-on approach.

The ideal candidate will have experience in charged-off loans, insolvency, debt management, litigation, and debt outsourcing.

Responsibilities

  • Leading by example in supporting the team to manage the day-to-day workload.
  • Using strong leadership skills to lead a small team and maintain a positive working environment.
  • Completing appraisals, team meetings/training sessions, and delivering regular coaching and feedback.
  • Helping to build a fully functional recoveries team for personal loans and car finance.
  • Representing Collections in relevant internal/external forums and updating key stakeholders on the team’s activities and performance.
  • Liaising with external companies including debt collection agents, solicitor firms, debt charities, debt sale companies, and system providers.
  • Supporting the wider Collections Strategy Team to drive changes, enhancements, improvements, and documenting processes.
  • Prioritising workloads and analysing team productivity, including conducting quality checks.
  • Contributing positively to the wider Collections management team, ensuring a happy, positive, and supportive working environment for staff.
  • Deputising for the Collections Strategy Manager where needed.

Requirements

  • Experience in building, developing, and maintaining a highly functional recoveries team in a financial services company, including working with structured debt IVA, DMPs, and bankruptcies.
  • Confidence to challenge existing work practices and build new ones to ensure continuous improvement.
  • A strong focus on quality, receptiveness to feedback, and effectiveness in giving feedback.
  • Experience collaborating with people at all levels across an organisation.
  • Understanding of the financial services regulatory landscape and its impact on collections operations.

If you possess these skills, we still want to hear from you!

  • Experience working within the debt sale market.
  • Experience supporting internal and external audits.
  • Experience working with DCA’s to maintain positive relationships.
  • Experience facilitating legal cases to ensure positive business and customer outcomes.
  • Experience building stakeholder relationships with Collections Operations, Underwriting, Credit Risk, Compliance, and senior leaders.
