Reciprocating Compressor Mechanic / Compressor Mechanic / Millwright
Reciprocating Compressor Mechanic required to join a leading turbomachinery service provider based near Bellaire, TX.
This hands-on position involves the disassembly, inspection, repair, and reassembly of a variety of rotating equipment, with a strong focus on reciprocating compressors, centrifugal pumps, gearboxes, blowers, and other critical rotating assets. The role supports both in-shop and occasional field-based overhauls, and calls for precision, technical understanding, and mechanical expertise.

Reciprocating Compressor Mechanic / Compressor Mechanic / Millwright
Role
Perform disassembly and inspection of rotating equipment, including reciprocating compressors, centrifugal pumps, gearboxes, blowers, and other high-spec industrial components
Document “as received” condition, perform visual inspections, and record failure modes
Support parts prep for NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) and PMI (Positive Material Identification)
Carry out precision dimensional inspections, runouts, and tolerance verification
Generate detailed inspection reports and provide repair recommendations and part replacement lists
Provide repair instructions, assembly drawings, and interface with machinists, welders, and QA
Clean, prep, and perform final assembly per OEM, ASME, API, or customer specifications
Conduct hydrostatic or pneumatic testing in line with project and safety requirements
Support root cause analysis, documentation, and communication with clients and internal teams
Perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and on-site repairs (when required)
Support equipment including centrifuges, screw feeders, conveyors, blowers, and compressors

Requirements
High School Diploma / GED
5–10 years’ experience working with rotating equipment in an industrial or heavy mechanical setting
Must have hands-on experience with reciprocating compression equipment
Previous millwright experience required
Proficient in using precision measurement tools (micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, etc.)
Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and technical documentation
Strong attention to detail and mechanical troubleshooting ability
Physically capable of lifting, bending, standing, and handling equipment for extended periods
Willing to work overtime, weekends, or holidays when needed
Familiarity with propane/acetylene torches, small lifting devices, and shop safety protocols
