Job Description

Outpatient Receptionist

An exciting new opportunity has arisen for a Receptionist to join our busy Outpatient team at Springfield Hospital in Chelmsford.

Springfield Hospital opened in 1987 and is one of Essex’s leading private hospitals. It is a 66 bedded hospital all with ensuite facilities, with parent and child rooms, a 14 bed Day unit and a high dependency unit.


The role

You will be the first point of contact in Outpatients for patients, staff and visitors. This role is essential to ensuring a positive patient experience throughout their visit.

  1. Undertake outpatient charges
  2. Update and maintain accurate patient information using our Electronic Patient Record system
  3. Welcome, consultants, patients and their relatives/visitors into Outpatients, ensuring that security measures are adhered to
  4. Provide administrative tasks to support the clinical team
  5. Answer Outpatient Reception telephone enquiries promptly, efficiently and politely, resolving local issues and referring on to other relevant departments as appropriate
  6. Ensure that the reception desk and waiting areas are maintained in a presentable manner
  7. Observe and maintain the confidentiality of patient records and staff information
  8. Facilitate and book future appointments for the nurse outpatient clinic
