Job description

Stanford-le-Hope & Corringham PCN are looking for a receptionist to join their friendly team for 15 hours per week working Monday to Wednesday, 8:00am -1:00pm.

This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role at the heart of our patient services, supporting individuals to access the care they need while contributing to the smooth and efficient running of our practices.

As a receptionist/care navigator, you will be the first point of contact for patients whether in person, by phone, or online, you'll ensure every interaction is handled with empathy, efficiency, and professionalism.

General practice is a challenging environment that requires a calm and caring approach with the ability to work under pressure. The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated team player who has customer service/patient experience andoffers excellent communication skills.

Main duties of the job
  • Greet and direct patients and visitors in a warm and professional manner
  • Schedule and manage appointments using our clinical systems
  • Respond to patient and external agency queries, offering accurate information or directing them to the appropriate team member
  • Manage incoming and outgoing correspondence, including letters, forms, and specimen containers
  • Provide clear guidance on practice procedures
  • Accurately maintain patient records, including data entry, filing, scanning, and photocopying.

Qualifications
  • We would welcome applications from organised, adaptable, and friendly individuals, who are keen to help us provide high levels of patient service. General practice experience would be ideal but not an essential.
Experience
  • A highly motivated team player with previous experience in customer service or patient-facing roles
  • An excellent communicator, both verbally and in writing
  • Professional, polite, and respectfulable to maintain confidentiality and discretion at all times
  • Compassionate and empathetic, particularly when dealing with patients in distress or difficult situations
  • Comfortable working as part of a collaborative team, supporting colleagues as needed
  • Proficient with IT systems and administration, with strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Some flexibility is required to occasionally cover additional or alternative hours when colleagues are absent
  • Applicants should live within a reasonable commuting distance of the practice
  • Previous experience in a medical or healthcare receptionist role
