Job description

We are looking to recruit a new part-time Receptionist/Administrator to join our team at Deepcar Medical Centre.

This is a part-time position of 15 hours per week, working on a Thursday afternoon and Friday morning & afternoon. The role includes a cover shift of around 5-6 hours on another day of the week to cover annual leave & sickness for the rest of the Reception/Administration team.

Main duties of the job
  • Answering telephone calls & reception desk duties, booking appointments, dealing with patient queries, ordering prescriptions, processing admin duties for clinical staff, general administration such as filing, liaising with other healthcare providers professionally, and scanning clinical letters.
  • The duties are variable, depending on daily requirements.

Job responsibilities
  • Answering incoming calls, responding to queries, and managing email correspondence promptly.
  • Booking & triaging patient appointments, signposting patients to relevant services.
  • Greeting patients and visitors professionally at the reception desk.
  • Assisting clinicians as needed, including handling paperwork, stocking consultation rooms, and daily end-of-day duties to meet infection control standards.
  • Managing office supplies, handling post, and performing general administrative duties.
  • Maintaining accurate patient records and ensuring confidentiality.

Candidates should have strong communication skills, be friendly, reliable, and willing to learn and develop their skills. The role involves handling confidential information relating to patients, staff, and the practice as a business. All such information must be treated as strictly confidential.

The post-holder will also support health, safety, and equality initiatives, participate in training, and recognize the importance of effective communication within the team and with patients and carers.

Experience
  • Previous experience in customer service or as a receptionist.
