Overview

Colne Valley Group Practice has two part-time receptionist/administrative positions available. One role is 25.25 hours per week and the other 25.75 hours per week. Employees may be required to assist with overtime to cover colleagues’ annual leave and sickness. Overtime is allocated on a fair share basis when rotas are produced 6 weeks in advance.

The working pattern for the positions is non-negotiable. Do not apply if you cannot work either of the days/times specified for one of the positions.

Position schedules
  • Position One: Monday 7.45am–6.15pm; Wednesday 7.45am–6.15pm; Thursday 1.00pm–6.15pm
  • Position Two: Tuesday 1.00pm–6.15pm; Wednesday 7.45am–6.15pm; Thursday 1.00pm–6.15pm; Friday 1.00pm–6.15pm

Staff will work across two surgeries: Slaithwaite and Marsden. Salary is per annum and pro-rated for part-time staff.

Main duties
  • To contribute to patient care by providing efficient reception/administrative support to the practice.
  • Delivered in a professional, helpful and friendly manner.
Job Responsibilities
  • Maintain confidentiality of clinical and management information at all times.
  • Work within the requirements of the Data Protection Act.
  • Comply with practice policies, procedures and protocols.
  • Facilitate a welcoming atmosphere when patients arrive for their appointments.
  • Ensure the reception area and waiting room are tidy and professional.
  • Answer the telephone, deal with patient queries, and direct calls to the appropriate person.
  • Make appointments and direct patients to their GP.
  • Deal with visitors and tradesmen appropriately.
  • Deal with requests for repeat prescriptions.
  • Ensure timely notification of all deliveries to the relevant staff.
  • General administrative duties, both manual and computerised; preparation of medical records, filing home visits and photocopying.
  • Generally assist the Doctors and Practice Manager when requested to do so.
  • Domestic duties as required (e.g., tea/coffee and related tasks).

Colne Valley Group Practice (CVGP) is a medium-sized General Practice within Greater Huddersfield CCG, run over two sites and serving a mix of traditional West Yorkshire towns and rural populations. We are a training practice hosting a GP Registrar, FY2 Doctors and Medical Students, with an experienced team including 3 partners, 3 Salaried GPs, a GP Retainer, an Advanced Clinical Practitioner, Nursing staff and a Pharmacist. We are part of the Valleys Primary Care Network.
