PDSA is seeking a friendly receptionist in Belfast to warmly welcome clients and their pets, manage bookings and records, and support hospital reception in a busy environment.
You will answer calls, assist families, and handle sensitive conversations with care, while maintaining accurate paperwork and contributing to a compassionate, team-oriented setting.
Are you good with people, organised and comfortable in a busy customer service role? Join our reception team at PDSA (Location), where a warm welcome and a helpful conversation can make a real difference.
You'll be the first point of contact for owners whose pets need our help. From answering calls to welcoming clients into the hospital, you'll help people feel listened to and supported while keeping reception running smoothly.
Working closely with the hospital team, you'll:
Welcome clients and their pets, checking them in for their visit.
Answer telephone enquiries clearly and courteously.
Keep client records and hospital paperwork accurate and up to date.
Explain financial contributions sensitively and encourage clients to contribute appropriately towards their pet's care.
Manage competing priorities and respond to changing demands on a busy reception.
Some clients may be worried about their pet or facing difficult circumstances. You'll need to stay calm, show empathy and handle sensitive conversations with care.
You don't need previous veterinary reception experience. We're looking for someone who has:
A friendly, professional approach and a commitment to excellent customer service.
Clear communication skills and a confident telephone manner.
Good organisation skills and the ability to prioritise when things get busy.
Confidence using computers and keeping accurate records.
A reliable, flexible approach and a willingness to learn and work as part of a team.
Previous reception, office or customer service experience would be helpful, but isn't essential.
For over a century, PDSA has provided vital veterinary care for the pets of people facing financial hardship. By joining us, you'll help keep more people and pets together, while working alongside a friendly team with a shared purpose.
Our benefits include:

Three additional paid days off each year: a Volunteering Day, Celebration Day and Wellbeing Day.
Pension options with PDSA contributions starting at 5% and rising to 10%.
Life assurance worth four times your annual salary.
AXA Health Employee Assistance Programme with 24/7 wellbeing support.
Retail, holiday and lifestyle discounts through our Fetch benefits platform.
Enhanced maternity, paternity and adoption leave.
A 10% discount on PDSA Pet Insurance and access to staff veterinary services.
Flexible working options to support your individual circumstances.
