KS1 Early Years Reception Teacher

We are seeking an inspirational, supportive, and engaging KS1 Early Years Reception Teacher for a school renowned for outstanding academic performance, blending tradition with modern teaching practices.

SALARY: Competitive (Dependent on experience)

LOCATION: Edgware, Middlesex

JOB TYPE: Maternity Cover Contract: Start of Autumn Term 2025 – End of Autumn Term 2026

Job Overview

This exciting opportunity requires an excellent classroom practitioner with outstanding knowledge in Maths and English, and up-to-date familiarity with curriculum developments and pedagogical tools.

As a KS1 Early Years Reception Teacher, you will oversee the academic and pastoral development of your class, teaching core and additional subjects within the year's timetable. You will also support outdoor education as part of a new outdoor learning initiative, including off-site teaching in a Forest School environment on alternate Mondays.

About the School Reception

The school’s selective nature means most children meet EYFS requirements before joining, with a bespoke curriculum that enhances their learning in number bonds up to 20, cursive handwriting, and reaching 'Probable Reader' status by year's end.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach and take responsibility as the Form Teacher, ensuring safety, welfare, and pastoral care
  • Prepare tailored lesson plans based on pupils' existing knowledge
  • Organise termly outings that support the curriculum
  • Research and provide appropriate teaching resources
  • Contribute to the school magazine by collating work
  • Create and maintain a stimulating learning environment
  • Assess learning objectives and use findings to improve teaching
  • Contribute to curriculum development
Candidate Requirements
  • Degree qualification
  • Recognised teaching qualification and eligibility to teach in the UK
  • Outstanding subject knowledge in Maths and English
  • Up-to-date knowledge of curriculum developments and pedagogical tools
  • Knowledge of KCSiE
  • Experience teaching in Reception, Year 1, Year 2, or Year 3
  • Experience supporting pupils of all abilities to excel
  • Excellent classroom practitioner with effective use of technology
  • Enjoys working with bright children in a fast-paced environment that exceeds national curriculum levels
