Fluent Welsh-Speaking Teaching Assistant – Reception Class (Foundation Phase)

Location: Swansea SA2
Start Date: September 2025 (Trial to take place during Summer Term 2025)
Job Type: Full-Time, Term Time Only
Contract: Temporary to permanent for the right candidate
Salary: Starting daily rate of £89.38

About the Role

We are looking for a fluent Welsh-speaking Teaching Assistant to join our Foundation Phase team and work in our partnering school’s Reception class, starting in September 2025. The successful candidate will be invited to attend a trial session during the current summer term.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to support our youngest learners as they begin their educational journey through the medium of Welsh.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the class teacher in delivering engaging, age-appropriate lessons through Welsh
  • Assist in creating a welcoming, nurturing classroom environment
  • Work with pupils 1:1 and in small groups to support early development and learning
  • Encourage positive relationships, independence, and communication
  • Help deliver learning through play in line with the Foundation Phase ethos
  • Support with classroom routines, supervision, and resource preparation

Essential Requirements

Fluent Welsh speaker (spoken and written)
Experience working with Foundation Phase/Early Years children
A caring, patient, and enthusiastic approach
Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Desirable:

  • Experience in Welsh-medium schools or settings
  • Understanding of the Curriculum for Wales and Foundation Phase principles
  • First Aid or safeguarding training
