Our Role

As Application Support Engineer you will provide technical triaging and second line application support capability for a number of important applications. The successful candidate will ensure the correct priority and severity are assigned and engage with internal stakeholders to eliminate internal issues and re-assign to the appropriate internal team where necessary.

You will, in conjunction with the team lead, manage any incidents that have been re-assigned to external third parties following technical triaging to ensure service levels are being met. You will work closely with peers including the Real Time Systems Support team and Service Management to leverage necessary skills and that best practice and processes are adhered to.

You will also ensure acceptable workarounds are in place and permanent solutions are defined and delivered to meet service levels and deliver agreed minor changes which may fall under the team remit.

This is a professional role requiring integrity and commitment, together with the ability to work to tight deadlines.

The successful candidate must, at the start of employment have permission to work in the UK without sponsorship.

What we’re looking for

  • Extensive knowledge of IT support and development activities, encompassing the full Software Development lifecycle;
  • Knowledge of all items listed below with an in depth knowledge of a significant number:
    • Experience with ITIL processes;
    • Experience in Powershell scripting;
    • Experience of Power Platform and PowerApps;
    • Experience with SQL and database management activities;
    • Experience with issue tracking collaboration tools and change management process;
    • Experience in the proactive management of application upgrades/patches/fixes;
    • Experience of working in a regulated environment, preferably within Energy/Utilities;
    • Must be able to work both as part of a team and individually;
    • Experience in version control systems;
  • Technical architecture design and development for high availability systems;
  • Some understanding of the Electricity North West business would be an advantage.
