Job summary

Elekta in Crawley is seeking a Software Engineer – Real Time to join the R&D team and develop software for the next generation radiotherapy systems.

You will be involved across the software lifecycle—from requirements and design to testing and continuous improvement—supporting safe and precise cancer treatment while collaborating with engineers and architects to deliver high-quality real-time software.

Qualifications

• Experience developing software for real-time or embedded systems using C/C++.
• Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
• Experience working within an R&D or product development environment.
• Collaborative approach and passion for high-quality software.
• Experience in medical devices, control systems, Agile development or regulated environments is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain real-time control software used within Elekta's radiotherapy systems.
• Design and implement solutions meeting performance, safety and regulatory requirements.
• Work with software engineers, systems engineers and architects to deliver new features and enhancements.
• Contribute to software quality through testing, code reviews and continuous improvement activities.
• Support technical planning, estimation and delivery of development work.
