Job summary

Viasat is seeking a software developer to maintain and enhance SAS group applications. You will work in a small team supporting network monitoring capabilities and ensuring world-class services for existing and future offerings.

You will own relationships with product managers, SMEs and vendors, developing features, testing, and delivering robust software. Strong Java/Node.js skills and security awareness are essential.

Qualifications

• BSc in Computer Science or equal technical field.
• Hands-on Java development in real-time operational environments.
• Strong Node.js development experience.
• Experience with Windows and Linux servers.
• Knowledge of IP networks and basic troubleshooting tools.
• Experience with event streaming platforms such as Kafka.
• Solid understanding of the full software development lifecycle.
• Familiarity with object-oriented analysis and design and design patterns.
• Excellent communication and collaboration within teams.
• Awareness of IT and network security best practices.

Responsibilities

• Develop and support SAS group applications and tools.
• Collaborate with users to gather requirements and test new features.
• Organise and participate in design and code reviews.
• Provide progress reports within the SAS group.
• Document software work for future reference and support.
• Work with other teams to ensure proper interfaces for monitoring and data collection.
• Assist operations and support teams to resolve software issues.
• Contribute to maintenance of billing/assurance related systems.
