Job summary
UKAEA Culham, Oxfordshire, invites applications for a Control Software Engineer to develop, maintain and support real-time fusion control software, PC/Linux control, data acquisition and HMI applications.
You will lead software architecture for STEP projects, collaborate with scientists and engineers, and apply AI/ML techniques for practical solutions in a cutting-edge research environment.
Qualifications
- Degree in Computer Science, Computing, Numerical Science or related discipline.
- Experience developing software-based control and data acquisition systems.
- Experience developing in C/C++ and Python within Linux environments.
- Familiarity with LabVIEW, MATLAB, Simulink.
Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain and support real-time fusion control software systems.
- Deliver practical AI/ML solutions, working with expert scientists to translate latest results into practical engineering solutions.
- Develop PC/Linux-based control, data acquisition and HMI applications.
- Lead software architecture and technical delivery for key UKAEA projects in instrumentation and control.
- Support the development of ITER-like CODAC functionality and advanced control systems.
